DISCOVERY Workshops with Paul Wang Workshop 1: Wet & Wild with Watercolor Textures ( Indoor practice) Category: Watercolor Language: English ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ LEARNING GOALS: •Sharpen our awareness and observation of textures. •Explore and experiment with simple techniques to create unique visual textures. •Mimic and transform textures by learning about DENSITY & DIRECTION of watercolour. •Learn how to DESIGN and create ILLUSION of space on paper. •Creatively infuse sketches with bold playful textures. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION: This experimental play-based workshop will help you celebrate the magic of creating textures with water and colour. Nature is a rich source of inspiration and many exciting textures are found in nature. Every day we can encounter textures through sight and touch. They provide important sensory information about our environment. Artists past and present have been learning from nature and have cleverly used textures to create visual illusions. The workshop will show you how to play with granulating watercolours to mimic and creatively transform textures from our environment onto paper. We explore DESNSITY, DIRECTION and the DESIGN of textures and how textures can elevate our sketches.
